The test track at UniBw M comprises two circular courses, special courses with different surfaces, a track for testing acoustics and a straight track of about 1.8 km for high-speed driving on three lanes. In addition, there are several free spaces where test assemblies can be installed. The test track is directly adjacent to the research campus and thus can also be used by vehicles not approved for road use.

Many experiments and experimental studies have been conducted over the years in order to design and evaluate driver assistance systems, for which the test track meets the two requirements of realistic conditions and safety. Depending on the aspect to be examined and associated requirements, a variety of methods is used in these test setups.
