The chair is represented with two current research contributions at the Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting in Boston.
The study “An Organizational Model of Age Differences in Working From Home” by Hendrik Hüttermann together with Max Reinwald (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München) and Heike Bruch (Universität St. Gallen) examines systematic differences in working-from-home usage depending on employees’ age. Adopting an organization-wide perspective, the project analyzes, first, how systematic age differences in remote work usage affect employees’ collective identification with their company as well as the firm’s financial performance. Second, from an applied perspective, it investigates what organizations can do to prevent systematic discrimination of age groups in access to remote work.
The research project “A Multilevel Study of CEO Health-Orientation, Employee Well-Being, and Organizational Performance” by Hendrik Hüttermann as well as Nils Fürstenberg and Heike Bruch (University of St. Gallen) analyzes the role-model function of top management in promoting health-oriented leadership within organizations. The findings indicate that CEOs’ self-leadership behavior—particularly when focused on mental health—can play a decisive role in motivating managers throughout the organization to engage in health-oriented leadership toward their employees. Ultimately, this can enhance both employees’ psychological well-being and organizational performance.
Both contributions are available upon request for interested readers.
