Research Meets Bundeswehr

At the workshop “Bundeswehr Meets Research,” held on May 13, 2025, at the Universität der Bundeswehr München, a space was created for exchange, dialogue, and joint development between academia and military practice. In an open exhibition format, researchers presented their current projects and engaged directly, candidly, and on equal footing with participants.

As part of the event, Stefanie Acksteiner presented her current research project. The focus of her work is the question of how leaders can successfully navigate paradoxes in organizational contexts—particularly with regard to female leaders, who often have to balance between agentic and communal role expectations. The concept of a paradox mindset offers a promising approach by framing perceived contradictions not as obstacles, but as resources for effective leadership.

The event enabled numerous inspiring conversations and valuable insights—across disciplines, organizational domains, and hierarchical levels—and underscored the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue between research and practice.
