Publication of the research paper: „TRAVELWARN-Crawler: Constructing longitudinal datasets of government-issued travel warnings for political and social science research”

12 September 2025

The paper „TRAVELWARN-Crawler: Constructing longitudinal datasets of government-issued travel warnings for political and social science research”, co-authored by Laura Braun and Christian Oswald, introduces a pipeline to access, collect, clean, store, and standardize government advisories from the Internet Archive for several decades. The approach is illustrated for the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and will be further expanded in the future. The resulting dataset can contribute to various social science subfields such as international relations, comparative politics, and political communication.

The paper can be found here and will be presented at the 5th Workshop on Computational Linguistics for the Political and Social Sciences in Hildesheim, Germany, in September 2025.
