CCEW Symposium 2026
19 October 2026
The CCEW Symposium 2026 at the Federal Academy for Security Policy in Berlin addressed a central question: How can conflict early warning provide reliable guidance in an era of growing power competition—and where are its limits?
Under the theme “Conflict Early Warning in Times of Power Competition – Limits and Challenges,” the Symposium brought together experts from academia, policymaking, and practice from Europe and beyond. Discussions explored geopolitical conflicts, hybrid threats, new data sources, and the opportunities and limitations of AI and language models in crisis early warning.
The interdisciplinary exchange was particularly valuable. The diverse methods, experiences, and perspectives highlighted that effective early warning is not merely a technological challenge. It requires reliable data, critical analysis, and - above all - continuous dialogue between researchers and decision-makers.
A heartfelt thank you to all speakers, chairs, panelists and participants for their contributions and the thought-provoking conversations. We are taking away many valuable insights and important questions for our future work and already look forward to seeing you again in 2027!
