"Baustatik-Baupraxis" Conference in Bad Boll
12 September 2025
The Research Association "Baustatik-Baupraxis" was founded on October 4, 1988, with the goal of promoting the exchange of experiences and ideas between construction practitioners and academic institutes. The association sees itself as a communication platform between representatives from science, technology, business, and government agencies active in the fields of structural analysis and related disciplines. It organizes the "Baustatik-Baupraxis" conference as well as academic colloquiums, particularly aimed at promoting young researchers.
This year's conference took place from September 8 to 11 at the Ev. Akademie in Bad Boll. Our institute was represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Josef Kiendl, Till Weithoff, and Matthias Andrae.
Mr. Weithoff gave a lecture entitled "Locking in the Solution of Structural Mechanical Problems Using Physics-Informed Neural Networks." In it, he investigated and explained the occurrence of locking in the application of physics-informed neural networks and demonstrated how methods known from FEM can be used to avoid locking.
Mr. Andrae presented his paper "Experimental and Numerical Analysis for Improving the Resistance of Plastic Windows to Explosion Loads." In it, he highlighted the weaknesses of conventional window constructions under explosion loads, presented proven reinforcement measures, and demonstrated their effectiveness using shock tube tests and numerical simulations.
