Prof. Dr. Eva Blome is Deputy Professor of Cultural Theory at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich as of October 2023.
Eva Blome studied German Literature, Ethnology and Sociology at the University of Göttingen and the Université d'Aix-en-Provence/Marseille. From 2003 to 2006, she was doctoral candidate at the DFG-Graduate Center The Figure of the Third at the University of Konstanz, where she obtained her PhD with a study on literary-cultural conceptions of "race" and sexuality in the context of colonialism, literary primitivism and bio-aesthetics of the early 20th century. After completing her doctorate, which included research and study visits to the University of Chicago and the University of California at Irvine (both in 2005), she first worked (since 2007) as a post-doctoral researcher at the Center of Excellence Cultural Foundations of Integration, followed by a position (since 2011) as research assistant (Chair of Prof. Dr. Juliane Vogel) at the University of Konstanz. In 2013, she was appointed as a Junior Professor for Gender Studies at the Institute of German Philology at the University of Greifswald (positive interim evaluation in 2016), where she chaired the board of the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies (IZfG). In 2014, she was awarded a membership of Robert Bosch Stiftung's Fast Track Program. From 2015-2017, she was a member of the expert commission for the preparation of the Federal Government's Second Gender Equality Report; from April to September 2017, she was granted a research fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Konstanz. From 2019 to October 2023, she served as Deputy Professor of German Literature at the University of Hamburg. In July 2023, she completed her habilitation and received the venia legendi with the study Ungleiche Verhältnisse. Bildungsgeschichten als literarische Soziologie (to be published by Wallstein Verlag in 2024) at the University of Greifswald.
