 Day 1

GETTING TO KNOW MUNICH: CITY TOUR

Guide: Dr. Alexandra Bettag in cooperation with students from the Bundeswehr University Munich

Sightseeing of important monuments and memorial sites that allow for the illustration of important stages in Bavarian and German history and culture:

  • The Bavarian Kings - the House of Wittelsbach - Munich Residence and  Nymphenburg Palace
  • Maximilianeum - the Bavarian state parliament and its origins
  • Maximilianstrasse - Leopoldstrasse: Urban planning in the 19th Century
  • Munich in the Third Reich - the White Rose resistance group memorial site at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich
  • Contemporary Munich: the Olympic Park

 

Day 2+ 3

BASIC INTERCULTURAL TRAINING: From Reflection on Cultural Identity to Developing Competencies in Dialogic Communication - Fostering Diversity, Interaction and Communication

Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Kazuma Matoba, Bundeswehr University Munich

This intensive intercultural training (8 hours per day) focused on the following contents and objectives:

  • reflections on one’s own cultural identity, students exchanging ideas about this topic, identifying similarities and differences
  • developing a culture that creates awareness of prejudices and assumptions and allows for the development of dialogic “listening” communication skills.

The overall goal was to foster diversity and to strengthen team work and interactive skills.
