IMCS Presents Mathematical Engineering Degree at IdeenExpo in Hanover
23 Juni 2026
The Bundeswehr University Munich is represented at IdeenExpo in Hanover from 20 to 28 June as part of the Bundeswehr stands, where it provides information on study opportunities, research, and career paths within the Bundeswehr. Among the degree programmes presented is Mathematical Engineering (ME), whose presentation involves the Institute for Mathematics and Computer-Based Simulation (IMCS).
At the stand, visitors gain a vivid impression of the subject areas covered in the degree programme and how they are applied in practice. A drone, a vehicle model, various videos, and an interactive programme demonstrate how mathematical methods and computer-based simulations can be linked with technical applications.
Interest was already very high during the first weekend. Numerous families took the opportunity to learn more about the Bundeswehr, studying at the Bundeswehr University Munich, as well as the degree programmes and research topics presented. In the coming days of the exhibition, mainly school classes are expected, so visitor numbers are likely to continue to increase.
The presentation is supervised by staff members associated with the Mathematical Engineering degree programme. Thomas Apel was on site during the first weekend of the exhibition, while Johannes Pfefferer is supporting the stand during the week; from Wednesday to Friday and from Friday to Sunday, Simon Gottschalk and Katharina Lorenz, respectively, will complement the exhibition team. In addition, students of the degree programme support the exhibition and, through their personal experiences, help present Mathematical Engineering in a clear and approachable way.
