Researcher

Research Associate (m/f/d) as Researcher or Postdoctoral Fellow at the Chair of Air Traffic Concepts, Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (Remuneration according to remuneration group 13 TVöD) for the earliest date possible - initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension (WissZeitVG) - full time.

The Chair of Air Traffic Concepts deals with data-driven and model-based approaches to improving (air) traffic, flight- and airflow-centered airspace management, performance-oriented airport operations, considering landside/airside processes on the ground and during approach/departure, as well as traffic and process automation using a wide range of sensor information and data sources. The aim is to identify and quantify new potential using digital solutions and to transfer this potential for practical implementation. Advanced concepts for intermodal (air) traffic management will be developed to expand urban traffic systems into airspace and tested for feasibility in a research laboratory.

 

Responsibilities

- Integration of an existing airport simulation (ground processes, taxiing, take-off/landing)

- Expansion of the airport with 3D models, e.g. terminal, aircraft, handling facilities

- Implementation of an AR/VR environment (HoloLens2, VARJO XR-3 VR)

- Support in the acquisition of third-party-funded projects

- Participation in teaching (exercises, internships, supervision of student work)

- Regular publication of scientific progress

 

Prerequisites

- Above-average academic degree (Master's/Diploma) in the fields of (aviation) transportation, computer science, (industrial) engineering, mathematics, physics, or related disciplines

- Knowledge of programming and software development- Experience in the implementation of AR/VR environments

- You are a citizen of an EU/NATO nation and have a good command of written and spoken German and English.
