All Advantages at a Glance

As an employer, we are committed to ensuring the best possible working conditions. Here you will find information on the numerous advantages we offer our employees.

A secure job with attractive conditions

The University of the Bundeswehr Munich is a federal institution that is governed by the provisions of the Public Service Collective Bargaining Agreement. You will thus enjoy pay according to the collective agreement pay schedule, social benefits and additional old-age insurance coverage with the Supplementary Pensions Agency for Federal and Länder Employees (VBL). In addition, the public service offers you a job that is crisis-proof and independent of general economic developments.

Follow your rhythm

You can flexibly work between 6 am and 9 pm, provided that there are no other requirements to the contrary. There is no core working time. Working hours are stored by the time and attendance system so that you can also take time off for overtime within the flexitime scheme. Depending on the working area, it is also possible to work from home. Part-time work is also possible. Find your own working rhythm!

Varied and diverse

The University of the Bundeswehr Munich aims to create equal opportunities for all. It is committed to providing an appreciative working environment for all employees, regardless of their gender, age, sexual identity/orientation, ethnic and cultural origin, physical and mental abilities, outward appearance, religion, and social and economic background. The university emphasizes this commitment in its guiding principles for equal opportunities and diversity.

The university promotes the careers of women in science through active recruitment and targeted support programs.

Excellent research requires international teams. We warmly welcome students from all over the world on our campus. The continuous internationalization of research and teaching is an important objective of the university. Lecturers will also be able to spend periods of study abroad. Combine work and family life

As a family-conscious university, we respect the diverse family models of our employees. The Family Service Office is the first point of contact for all questions concerning the compatibility of work and family life. By offering advice to our employees and implementing pragmatic measures, we promote a family-friendly and non-discriminatory working environment. In addition to the university’s day nursery “Campusküken" for toddlers and the parents’ initiative kindergarten “Sonnenwiese e.V.”, events on issues concerning compatibility of work and family life take place on a regular basis. Irrespective of this, the university offers a wide variety of flexible working-time models and provides teleworking places, which particularly benefit employees with family and care responsibilities.

Since 2015, the university has been a member of the Family in Higher Education Association ("Familie in der Hochschule”) and, as a modern employer, is committed to ensuring a family-friendly working atmosphere.

We make you mobile

Employees of the University of the Bundeswehr can use the IsarCardJob ticket of the MVV (Munich public transport) and thus receive a 10% discount compared to the regular prices for IsarCard season tickets. The university grants subsidy to the ticket price and subsidized Deutschlandticket is being planned. For cyclists, there are three MVG bike stations in the immediate vicinity of the university's exit gates, so that you can enter Munich flexibly and freely by rental bike after work. If you do not have a car, but occasionally need one, BwCarsharing will be the right choice for you. There you can rent cars at low prices and at the same time contribute to environmental protection. As of 2023, we even have an own sharing system on campus, that offers you e-bikes, cargo bikes and other vehicles. With UniBw M, you are thus completely mobile!

Continue your education: Personal and professional development
