  • Vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooter riders
  • Interaction dynamics among different groups of road users, such as motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and e-scooter riders
  • Behavioral modeling and trajectory-based analysis of road user interactions
  • Use of driving (Vernetzter PKW Simulator) and bike simulators (Vernetzter Fahrrad Simulator) for behavioral and safety research
  • Data-driven road safety analysis and surrogate safety measures
  • Crash prediction and safety assessment using statistical approaches such as Extreme Value Theory (EVT)
  • Human-machine interaction and evaluation of warning and assistance systems for active mobility and connected vehicles

Werdegang / Career History

  • March 2023 – January 2024: Intern at fka GmbH, Aachen. Supported research and industrial projects on system integration, data synchronization, and simulator testing; contributed to software development, data processing pipelines, and technical operations using Python, SmartEye (eye tracker), and AXIS (RGB cameras) systems.
  • August 2015 – August 2022: Research and teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Research on traffic safety, driving behavior, and road user interactions using field data, simulator studies, and advanced statistical modeling.
  • January 2015 – June 2015: Junior Structural Engineer at A.R. Hourie Enterprises, Lebanon. Shop drawing and structural detailing for construction projects.
  • August 2014 - December 2014: Structural Design Trainee at Adnan Al Aridi Engineering Office, Lebanon. Structural design of residential and commercial buildings.
  • August 2013 – November 2013: Site Engineer Assistant Trainee at Homan Engineering Company, Lebanon. Supervision of reinforced concrete works, waterproofing, and post-tension slab installation.
  • August 2012 – November 2012: Structural Engineer Trainee at Al Faris Lilhandasa, Lebanon. Assisted in structural design and preparation of shop drawings.
  • May 2012 – July 2012: Site Engineer Trainee at Civiarch, Lebanon. Site supervision (reinforced concrete works, waterproofing, cyclopean walls), shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and preparation of daily construction reports.
