Dear colleagues,
dear students,
dear Madam or Sir,
Even though there is no confirmed case of COVID-19 infection on campus according to the current status, the University Management has made new decisions in coordination with the Head of the Personnel Department at the Federal Ministry of Defence responsible for the Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBw M) in order to reduce the risk of a further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The entire campus of UniBw M will be shut down to limited operation as of tomorrow, 19 March 2020 until probably 14 April 2020. In addition to the measures already effective (see my Directive No. 1 and the urgent circular emails sent out so far), this means:
1. In research, in the central institutions, in the Central Administration and in the Presidential Department, only a small number of staff will perform system-relevant functions on-site in consultation with their respective superiors and by reporting to the Human Resources Department.
2. For all other employees, mobile working in the home office is the rule.
3. The libraries remain closed.
4. The datacenter will restrict its services (see a separate email from the head of the datacenter).
5. The head of StudBer shall lift the obligation of presence of students on campus under certain
conditions and on request. Therefore, one can expect a significantly reduced number of students on our campus until April 14, 2020.
6. All students are still obliged to study on their own - under the guidance of the teachers via email and available online tools, so that they are able to study and take exams without any loss of time when they return to normal academic life. For this purpose, a far-reaching conversion to e-learning and digital teaching is planned. The Vice President for Teaching is already in contact and coordination with the deparmtnet teachers in this regard.
7. The catering facilities (Mensa, Restaurant Brandl and UniCasino) will remain open with a smaller selection of meals, but Brandl and Casino will only be open until 14.30 (2:30 pm).
The University Management will continue to inform you promptly via email and on the homepage of UniBw M about any changes in the situation.
