Welcome to the Chair of Communication Networks at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. We are dedicated to advancing research and education in telecommunications networks, with a particular focus on performance, planning, resilience, and security. We offer a comprehensive range of study programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as opportunities for postdoctoral research.

6G conference and SUSTAINET meeting: From September 8th to 10th, the annual review of our SUSTAINET-Advance project was co-located with the 6G Conference. The review emphasised the excellent progress made by the consortium and the impressive results achieved thus far. The project also had a booth at the conference, which attracted a lot of interest, as did the panel discussion on sustainability in future communication networks.

COMNET at CODE Jahrestagung 2026: On 15 July 2026, we had the opportunity to present our work on “Towards cost-efficient, secure and reliable QKD networks” at the CODE Jahrestagung. Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca provided an overview of the metrics and proposed solutions to enhance the security and availability of the exchanged keys in compromised QKD networks.

June 4, 2026, in Málaga, Spain: Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca gave the keynote on “Planning and operating secure and resilient networks” at the 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit. This international event focuses on all aspects of telecommunications, ranging from 5G deployment and mobile IoT to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, including experimentation and testbeds, as well as applications and services. In recent years, it has attracted more than 1,000 delegates from more than 40 countries, bringing together cutting-edge research and world-renowned industries and businesses to present and discuss the latest results. It also includes an exhibition with more than 50 exhibitors demonstrating technology developed in this field, particularly within research projects from EU R&I programmes.
