Welcome to the Chair of Communication Networks at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. We are dedicated to advancing research and education in telecommunications networks, with a particular focus on performance, planning, resilience, and security. We offer a comprehensive range of study programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as opportunities for postdoctoral research.

June 4, 2026, in Málaga, Spain: Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca gave the keynote on “Planning and operating secure and resilient networks” at the 2026 EuCNC & 6G Summit. This international event focuses on all aspects of telecommunications, ranging from 5G deployment and mobile IoT to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, including experimentation and testbeds, as well as applications and services. In recent years, it has attracted more than 1,000 delegates from more than 40 countries, bringing together cutting-edge research and world-renowned industries and businesses to present and discuss the latest results. It also includes an exhibition with more than 50 exhibitors demonstrating technology developed in this field, particularly within research projects from EU R&I programmes.

ITG 2026: May 19 to 20, 2026: Mr. Mirko Zitkovich and Mr. Christofer Vásquez participated in the 27th VDE ITG Conference on Photonic Networks, where they presented their work in a lively poster session. The session provided valuable feedback from researchers working across different areas of telecommunications and fostered broader technical discussions with experts in the field.

ONDM 2026 Conference: May 12 to 15, 2026: Our group hosted the 30th International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modelling (ONDM). The conference provided an opportunity to disseminate the latest academic and industrial research, addressing topics such as AI/ML-driven network operations, fiber sensing, next-generation telecommunications, and photonic networking.
