Welcome
Welcome to the Chair of Communication Networks at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. We are dedicated to advancing research and education in telecommunications networks, with a particular focus on performance, planning, resilience, and security. This year we are hosting the 30th International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modelling (ONDM 2026) on 12–15 May 2026. We offer a comprehensive range of study programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as opportunities for postdoctoral research.

WueWoWas 2025: October 6 to 8, 2025: Würzburg, Germany. Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca presented a tutorial titled “Resilience and Sovereignty Metrics and Models” at the Würzburg Workshop on Next-Generation Communication Networks (WueWoWas).

ECOC 2025: September 28 to October 2, 2025: Copenhagen, Denmark. Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca participated in the 51st European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), where she presented a workshop titled “Energy Consumption in Converged In-Building Networks.”

Women in Photonics 2025: October 1, 2025: Copenhagen, Denmark. Prof. Carmen Mas Machuca participated in the Women in Photonics Workshop at ECOC 2025, themed “Women of Wavelengths (WoW) – Voices from Women in Photonics.” The event celebrated the achievements of women in optics, photonics, and optical networks through inspiring talks and a panel discussion featuring leading researchers and innovators from around the world.
