Complex sensor systems can only be developed in an interdisciplinary approach. In the area of medical applications, for example, physicists and chemists work together to develop and build prototypes of sensors that can evaluate vital signs. Computer scientists use edge computing to collect and process the resulting sensor data in such a way that it can be evaluated by doctors. Electrical engineers and computer scientists cooperate closely on signal processing and artificial intelligence. There are many more such examples of researchers of different disciplines working together towards a common goal.
