The challenges of the future make it necessary to conduct interdisciplinary research in various risk and security-related fields. This allows us to examine and discuss the key terms and their implications from different scientific perspectives. Modern societies are characterized by a wide range of perspectives and ambiguities. These, in turn, can lead to conflicting decisions and values as a result of the differing responsibilities and interests of decision-makers and of the people affected by these decisions. Nowadays, perceptions of risk and security are largely shaped by the relationship between knowledge and ignorance.
