On the occasion of a large conference of the Latin American IR in Bogotá on the topic "State and Future of International Relations in Latin America" (https://www.urosario.edu.co/Eventos-UR/Facultades-CPG-RI/Estado-y-futuro-de-las-relaciones-internacionales/), Stephan Stetter held the keynote address. Only the first paragraph serves as an excerpt

The first paragraph, freely translated:
"It is an honor for me to open this conference here in Bogotá on the occasion of the congress on the" State and Future of International Relations in Latin America ". I thank Professor Arlene Tickner and the Universidad del Rosario for the invitation. It is my first visit in this wonderful country and indeed on this continent. Things might have been different if my grandmother, who was from Stuttgart, boarded a steamship in 1933. She already had a ticket to Buenos Aires, but she was still working in France as an au pair in early 1933. After the Nazis rose to power in Germany, the French authorities sent her back home and she could never leave Europe for South America, as she had planned, and instead met my grandfather. And so there was never a Latin American change in the Stetter family, at least until today. I am happy to be here. "
