Dr. Jan Busse has been Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer for the Chair for International Politics and Conflict Research since September 2014. In May 2016 he obtained his PhD degree (with highest distinction, summa cum laude) at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Affairs of the Bundeswehr University Munich. He received a master’s degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Bielefeld.

Jan Busse was a member of the Arab German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities between 2017 and 2022, and from 2014-2020 he served as Co-Director of the Israeli-Palestinian Policy Network.

From January 2013 until May 2014, Jan Busse worked as research fellow at the Middle East and Africa Division of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik) in Berlin, and between 2010 to 2012 as research assistant. In 2009 he worked as a trainee in the cabinet of the president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso in Brussels on EU foreign policy.

Jan Busse is frequently invited to public lectures related to his areas of expertise, and he often provides his expertise to various media outlets.
