Simulation of laminar separation on airfoils

Laminar flow separation followed by transition to turbulent flow is a key feature in external aerodynamics and its correct prediction is a challenge for turbulence models in computational fluid dynamics. Focus of the project is the development of turbulence-resolving methods to simulate this process in quasi two-dimensional as well as fully three-dimensional configurations.
