For code development, small runs, pre-  and postprocessing, the following hardware is available at the institute:

  • Local Computing Cluster
    • 750 cores Intel Xeon E5 CPUs
    • 1536 GB RAM (distributed)
    • 512 GB RAM (in the frontend)
    • Infiniband networking
  • 160TB File Server
  • Desktop workstations with 128-512GB RAM  

 

For large production runs with more than 1 billion grid points extensive experience is available with High Performance Computing systems like the SuperMUC petascale Computer.

We have a student room with 5 Terminals and a separate Student Cluster with 128 cores for project work.

For student projects and 3D visualization of flow structures a Dual Extruder 3D printer is available.
