International humanitarian law is the international law which, in the event of an armed conflict (war), seeks to contain the negative effects on civilians and those directly involved. It represents the "rules of the game" of war, to which the parties to the conflict must adhere. CISS research focuses on the challenges that new weapons technologies and the military use of artificial intelligence pose to international humanitarian law.
