The initiative is based on an already longstanding cooperation between Prof. Carlo Masala (Chair of International Politics) and his research assistant Dr. Konstantinos Tsetsos with NATO SACT. The aim of the agreement is to carry out joint research activities in the fields of strategic foresight and early crisis detection, including the use of large amounts of data. In addition, the research institute CISS is to support NATO SACT in future in the development of suitable methods for strategic foresight. It is planned to hold conferences and workshops to deepen cooperation. Students at the Universität der Bundeswehr München will also have the opportunity to do internships and work experience in Norfolk, Virginia (USA), in order to gain a deeper insight into NATO's working methods and fields of activity.
