International Law for AI & Autonomy in Military Operations

Verena Jackson gave a presentation on the legal and ethical challenges of new technologies at a conference on robotics and autonomy in military systems in London in April.

AI is now enabling the widespread use of autonomy in military systems. This poses major challenges for international law in terms of how these systems can be developed and used in a legally and ethically correct manner. The use of armed autonomous systems is particularly problematic.
