Christian Oswald Ph.D.

Christian Oswald studied political science and history (B.A.) at the University of Mannheim. As part of his degree, he spent a semester at the University of Tartu as visiting exchange student. In addition, he holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mannheim and a Master of Arts in International Relations (Research Track) from the University of Nottingham. He is currently working on his doctorate at Trinity College Dublin, where he studies the adoption, timing and location of terrorism in civil conflicts. His research interests are political violence and instability, quantitative methods and computational social science.

During his studies, he worked as student research assistant at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research and the Research Center SFB 884 Political Economy of Reforms. He was further a research intern at the Institute of Baltic Studies and the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research. Prior to starting his doctoral studies, he was a research assistant at CONIAS Risk Intelligence, a start-up company originating from the University of Heidelberg. During his doctoral studies, he was teaching assistant and teaching fellow with teaching experience and interests in research methods, international relations and international conflict.

Christian Oswald has been working as a research associate at the Center for Crisis Early Warning (CCEW) at University of the Bundeswehr Munich since February 2022.
