Prof. Eirini Ntoutsi and Manolis attended and presented at the 20th Hellenic Data Management Symposium (HDMS 2026), held in Athens, Greece.

HDMS is the annual forum of the Greek data management community, bringing together researchers from academia and industry to present and discuss recent advances in data management, analytics, and related areas. The 2026 program included academic and industry talks, keynote presentations, tutorials, research posters, demos, and community sessions.

Prof. Ntoutsi presented the paper “Achieving Socio-Economic Parity through the Lens of EU AI Act,” co-authored by Arjun Roy, Stavroula Rizou, Akis Papadopoulos, and Eirini Ntoutsi. The work discusses socio-economic fairness in AI systems and examines how fairness-aware learning can better account for socio-economic disadvantage in light of emerging regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act.

Manolis presented the paper “TABFAIRGDT: A Fast Fair Tabular Data Generator using Autoregressive Decision Trees,” co-authored by Emmanouil Panagiotou, Benoît Ronval, Arjun Roy, Ludwig Bothmann, Bernd Bischl, Siegfried Nijssen, and Eirini Ntoutsi. The work focuses on efficient fair synthetic tabular data generation, contributing to ongoing research on fairness-aware data generation and responsible AI.

Their participation at HDMS 2026 contributed to the exchange of ideas within the Hellenic data management community and highlighted the group’s recent work on fairness, trustworthy machine learning, and responsible AI.
