Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karl-Christian Thienel

After studying civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1988-1993, he was a research associate at the Institute for Building Materials, Solid Construction and Fire Protection at the Technical University Braunschweig. 1993-1995 he was a Feodor Lynen fellow of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation at the Center for Advanced Cement Based Materials (ACBM) of Northwestern University, USA. 1995-2003 he worked for Liapor GmbH & Co. KG and from 1997 he was Head of R&D at Liapor GmbH & Co. KG. Since 2003, he is head of the Institute for Construction Materials at University of the Bundeswehr Munich. 2012-2014 he was vice dean of the department for Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. 2014-2015 he was dean of the department. 2016-2018 he served as vice president for research at University of the Bundeswehr Munich. 1/2019 until 06/2020 he was Vice President for Internationalization and Digitization at University of the Bundeswehr Munich. 07/2020 until 12/2021 he was Vice President for Education and Internationalization at University of the Bundeswehr Munich.
