SeTuReTra - Secondary debris distribution and residual capacity

The aim of the "SeTuReTra" project is to investigate the behavior of reinforced concrete components at high load speeds. The focus of the BauProtect research group is on the distribution of secondary debris on the protective side of the structure. In addition, tests are carried out at the Institute for Structural Engineering on the residual load-bearing capacity of the plates that have been subjected to the blast.

For this purpose a research series with contact detonations on reinforced concrete slabs was carried out together with the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). The tested specimens consist of both normal concrete and fiber concrete reinforced with steel fibers. In addition, the influence of subsequent reinforcement measures with ultra-high-strength, micro-reinforced concrete and steel fiber concrete layers is examined.

In addition, various numerical simulation methods are examined for their suitability for depicting the processes that occur. The aim is to be able to make predictions as precisely as possible for similar scenarios in the future through a better understanding of the occurring, highly dynamic material behavior in order to be able to design both existing and new structures specifically for the loads described.
