Project description

The investigation of fatigue processes or the plastification of materials by means of a thermal imaging camera using the lock-in method is a main focus at the Institute of Materials Science. The aim is the quantitative measurement of the energy converted during these processes. Various measurement influences such as sample movement and sample deformation as well as surface treatment have to be considered. Furthermore, the detectability of mechanical stresses under cyclic loading in the presence of notches and cracks is investigated.
