Jacopo Bonari's Ph.D. Defense

On May 21st, IMCS guest scientist, Jacopo Bonari, had the public discussion of his Ph.D. thesis on "Novel Interface Discretisation Methods for Contact Mechanics" completed in the research unit MUSAM - Multi-Scale Analysis of Materials. In his presentation, Jacopo showed how Finite Element and Boundary Element Methods can  overcome the numerical challenges in modelling rough surfaces in contact. After a lively discussion, the committee was fully convinced and awarded Jacopo the Ph.D. degree. Congratulations from all IMCS members.
