CSE Colloquium Talk by Richard Ostwald

On May 02, 2024, the third lecture of this year took place in the Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) research colloquium organized by Professors Apel, Brünig, Kiendl and Popp. Prof. Richard Ostwald from the Chair for Solid Mechanics at the Helmut-Schmidt-University Hamburg gave a detailed presentation on the topic of "Resource efficiency through modern mechanics – a journey from material microstructure to process simulations". The accompanying discussion and Q&A session confirmed the great interest shown by the audience in the exciting presentation. After the event, the organizers, speakers and participants met at a local restaurant for a convivial get-together.

The CSE Colloquium takes place regularly. An invitation to the current lecture of the CSE research colloquium will be sent in advance by e-mail. IMCS says goodbye to Venant Habiyambere

At the end of this month, the IMCS is saying goodbye to its longest-serving employee Venant Habiyambere. After 35 years (!) at the UniBw, the technical employee is taking his well-deserved retirement. To mark the occasion, Venant hosted a small retirement party at the institute yesterday with home-made African specialties.

IMCS at "FE im Schnee" 2024

The Institute for Mathematics and Computer-Aided Simulation (IMCS) once again participated in the annual conference "FE in the Snow," held in the beautiful Kleinwalsertal. The conference provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and novel approaches in the field of the Finite Element Method and computer-aided simulation.

New preprint on non-coercive Neumann boundary control problems

A new preprint coauthored by Thomas Apel deals with the discretization of an optimal control problem for a non-coercive boundary value problem.

New preprint on block preconditioner for mixed-dimensional models

In this new preprint, we investigate a scalable physics-based block preconditioner for mixed-dimensional models in beam-solid interaction and their application in engineering.

Heidelberg Seminar on Optimal Control 2024 in Haus im Ennstal
