Overview of the Chair’s Research Focus Areas

The research conducted at our chair adopts an interdisciplinary approach, combining strong theoretical foundations with the application of diverse and robust—mostly empirical—methods. We are guided by the principles of Open Science and Engaged Scholarship, aiming both to make fundamental scientific contributions and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge into society and economic practice, while also integrating insights from these domains back into research.

Through collaborations with companies, public institutions, and international scholars and research organizations, we pursue cooperative research and a continuous exchange of knowledge between academia and practice. Our goal is to contribute, through rigorous research, to the development of resilient and future-oriented innovation systems and to the resolution of societal challenges.

Research focus

We address key questions in the field of innovation management, often in connection with digital technologies and interdisciplinary interfaces, such as with the domains of "Information Systems", "Organization", and "Entrepreneurship". One major research focus concerns how new technologies influence the organization of innovation activities — for example, how collaboration within teams changes through different forms of human–machine interaction as AI-based assistance systems become increasingly autonomous.

Additional research focuses include the influence of company founders on the innovation activities of their firms and employees, as well as the interplay between emerging technologies and organizational learning.
