Main focus
The institute concentrates on practice-oriented solutions in FPGA design. The focus is on the development of RISC-V processors, system-on-chip designs and the remote control of FPGAs with Python. The in-house ETTI4 RISC-V processor is constantly being further developed and thus further enhanced. The institute is also working on the automation of FPGA development processes to enable efficient and adaptable systems.
In more recent research, the institute is addressing additional challenges such as the integration of AI in FPGA systems, the security of this AI against side-channel attacks and solutions for multi-tenancy for FPGA cloud platforms.
At the same time, the institute is interested in combining teaching and research. The teaching methods integrate current research topics and the courses are constantly being developed and adapted to integrate new findings but also to gain new insights.
