CYBER BRIDGE 2026: Exercise Strengthens German–Brazilian Cooperation in Cyber Defence

3 July 2026

Although Germany and Brazil are separated by approximately 10,000 kilometers, the cyber domain transcends geographic distance. Cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure and military networks present shared security challenges that require international cooperation, interoperability, and the exchange of expertise. Strengthening resilience against cyber threats has therefore become a common priority for both nations.

In early June, the exercise CYBER BRIDGE 2026 brought together 23 representatives from the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and the Brazilian Armed Forces (Forças Armadas do Brasil) at the Research Institute CODE, University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Conducted for the first time, the week-long exercise provided a platform for professional exchange on cyber defence capabilities, interoperability, and the integration of cyber capabilities into military operations. Participants also addressed approaches to protecting critical infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

The programme further included visits to cybersecurity companies in the Munich region and to the Cyber and Information Domain Training Center in Poecking, providing participants with insights into operational training, capability development, and current technological solutions. In addition, the Research Institute CODE presented its Cyber Range and demonstrated its comprehensive training and exercise capabilities for cyber defence education and operational readiness.

CYBER BRIDGE 2026 demonstrated the value of multinational cooperation in addressing shared cyber defence challenges. The exercise identified promising opportunities to further strengthen German–Brazilian collaboration in cyber defence, laying the foundation for future exchanges in training, capability development, and operational cooperation.
