IMC 2025

Research Group Presents at IMC 2025 in Innsbruck

From 14 to 18 September 2025, the 3rd International Mountain Conference (IMC 2025) took place in Innsbruck. More than 1,000 researchers from various disciplines gathered to discuss current developments in mountain research, including topics such as climate change, natural hazards, mountain ecosystems, and land use in alpine regions.

The research group contributed to the focus session “The Status and Future of Mountain Waters”, which addressed key challenges and developments in high-altitude hydrology. Ivo Baselt presented a talk entitled “Unfreezing the Dynamics: Exploring Thermohydraulic Interplay in Frozen Soils Under a Changing Climate”. His presentation explored the complex interactions between frozen soils, temperature variability and hydrological processes under climate change – a central aspect for understanding future developments in alpine catchments.

The contribution was part of the research project InfFroSoil (DFG), which investigates thermohydraulic processes in seasonally and permanently frozen soils. More information about the project is available at: InfroSoil
