DAAD Projekt "Digitalization in Law and Society in Indonesia"

Since 2022, the Chair of Private Law, Commercial and Business Law (WOW) works together with Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) in Pekanbaru/Indonesia as well as Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) as part of an academic exchange programme 'University Dialogue with the Islamic World' supported by the DAAD with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office. On the German side, the project is headed by Prof Dr Michael Bohne (Dortmund) and Prof Dr Stefan Koos (Neubiberg). On the Indonesian university side, the leadership and coordination lies with the Rector of the UIR, Prof Dr Syafrinaldi, who also completed his doctorate at the UniBW Munich and the Dean of the Law Faculty of UNAIR Dr. Iman Prihandono. Prof Koos has been a visiting professor at the UIR Faculty of Law and at UNAIR for many years. The DAAD project focuses on 'Digitalisation in Law and Society in Indonesia'. The state-run Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya has been a partner since 2023.

Our project has enabled significant academic exchange between Indonesian universities, including Universitas Islam Riau and Universitas Airlangga, and their German counterparts. Key achievements include student exchanges, joint publications, lecturer visits, and the development of a joint curriculum addressing the legal challenges of the digital era.
