Content

Many flows in nature and technology are turbulent. The description and understanding of these flows is very complex and therefore has been part of scientific investigations for many decades.
In the module "Turbulent flows in nature and technology" the fundamentals of turbulence as well as practical aspects will be discussed. The following items are part of the course.

  • Introduction, definition, phenomenology
  • Formation of turbulence
  • Basics of formed turbulence
  • Turbulence models
  • Statistical description of turbulence
  • Turbulent shear flows
  • Turbulent flows in the oceans and the atmosphere
  • Experimental analysis of turbulent flows
