Furthermore, the provision of deepened subject knowledge of scientific competences are developed, methodic skills an applied to concrete research problems and subject-specific abilities are deepened.

             II.      Prerequisites for entry

Participation in the Master’s program requires the completion of the Bachelor Study Program “Educational Science with a Focus on Intercultural, Media and Adult Education” at the Universität der Bundeswehr München or of a university program of the same standard. Admission to the Master’s program furthermore requires the subject-specific qualification for academic work the achievement of which needs to be demonstrated by graduation with the grade 3,0 or better. If the required grade has not been achieved, the student has to prove the eligibility to take up the study program by successfully taking part in a qualification conservation.

With respect to being able to complete the studies successfully, a high level of faculty of systematic thought, acting according to research methods, willingness to for academic achievement as well as interest in educational-scientific problems in research and practice are required.

           IV.      Abilities and Interests

Students should have basic abilities in systematic thinking and methodic acting, be prepared to work interdisciplinarily and, in particular, be interest in educational-scientific problems. The willingness to reflect one’s own educational biography as well the interest in “other” cultures and in digital media are advantageous.

            V.      Organization of the Study Programs

The Master’s program comprises as well as the Bachelor Study Program all in all ten teaching and subject areas covering deepening and interdisciplinary aspects with regard to educational science in general (Theory and philosophy of education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Science Research Methods) as well as to Intercultural, Media and Adult Education in particular (Intercultural Education, Intercultural Communication and Conflict Research, Educational Research and Media Education, Learning and Teaching with Media, Adult Education, Organizational Education).

In the beginning of the master’s program the students select four compulsory elective modules from the teaching and subject areas according to their own interests. Any of these modules is followed by a consecutive second compulsory elective module, so that every student may assemble by her/his choice an individual profile building with four thematic emphases, respectively. In the center of interest in the first and second subject-specific trimester of the master’s program are theoretical and empirical reflections in the fields of Adult Education and Organizational Education, Educational Research and Media Education and Learning and Teaching with Media as well as Intercultural Education and Intercultural Communication and Conflict Research, whereby philosophical, pedagogical, sociological and/or psychological perspectives are taken in accordance to the participating teaching and subject area.

In the third and fourth subject-specific trimester the students are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge gained in the first both subject-specific trimesters of the master’s program by project-orientated or researching means, in turn in four from ten compulsory elective modules. In study projects, exemplary individual projects in the fields of Intercultural, Media and Adult Education are autonomously being dealt with and worked on, whereby interdisciplinary relations between the various teaching and subject areas can and shall be set up.

Furthermore, a training course from the studium plus program has to be passed. The fourth and fifth subject-specific trimester is dedicated to the work on the master’s thesis.
