No building without surveying

The tasks of surveying in construction projects consist of the metrological survey to describe the current situation before the start of construction, e. g. the terrain conditions, the project planning of e. g. the main axes of a building, the stakeout, i. e. the transfer of the planned plan to the site, as well as the documentation of existing structures and the monitoring, i. e. the determination of changes in a building over time.

These tasks already begin with the basic geo information provided by the official surveying department, e. g. on the property rights in the real estate cadaster, and the soil management measures, without which it is not possible to project a construction project, such as the designation of a new development area.

The Institute of Geodesy is made up of the Chair of Engineering Geodesy with the associated Geodetic Laboratory and the Chair of Land Management.
