It only works together!

At UniBw M, we promote interdisciplinarity, networking, and transfer. We engage in open and honest dialogue with one another: because only in a respectful working environment productive ideas can arise and be implemented.

Gender, age, nationality and ethnicity, religion and worldview, marital status, sexual orientation, identity, social background, different character traits, beliefs, values, resposabilities and roles—all these aspects make us diverse in our interactions and strong together.

The University of the Bundeswehr Munich is already diverse in its structure: it combines the academic civilian world of research with the military side on its campus and unites a University and a University of Applied Sciences under one roof. It is also a place for leisure, community, and camaraderie – offering a second home, especially for students.

The diversity of our university members embodies the diversity of our society and at the same time opens up space for innovative solutions and making us internationally competitive. Through research and teaching, we actively contribute to addressing complex challenges – always guided by our self-concept rooted in a free and democratic constitutional order, which we uphold every day.

The University of the Bundeswehr Munich’s commitment to diversity has its origins in the Civil Equal Opportunities Office: In 2017, the head of office Pamela Koch founded the Advisory Board for Equal Opportunities and Diversity and organized the first Diversity Day on campus. As spokesperson for the advisory board, Prof. Reif, represents the board's concerns within the university. With the project management of the Diversity Audit, the Civil Equal Opportunities Office initiated a strategic and holistic approach to diversity for UniBw M.

This website brings together UniBw M's commitment to diversity and provides an overview of key milestones, various action days, and points of contact.

Your main points of contact

The goal of the Vice President for Internationalization and Diversity, Professor Isabelle Deflers, is to foster an open university that grows through exchange, diversity, and equal opportunity. Following the motto “It only works together!”, Professor Deflers aims to make our university an even more open and internationally connected place – a space where diversity is embraced as a strength and where everyone has equal opportunities to contribute their ideas and talents, work innovatively, and become competitive. To achieve this, she focuses on establishing new partnerships, especially abroad, creating an accessible and inclusive work environment, and promoting a culture of appreciation that drives collective progress.

Professor Schmidt chairs the Senate Working Group on “Diversity and Equal Opportunity”, which serves as a strategic level for the university leadership to prioritize and monitor the success of the measures adopted as part of the Diversity Audit.

Professor Renner is Antisemitism Commissioner for UniBw M.
