Dr. Ken Pfeuffer

Ken Pfeuffer is postdoc researcher in the Bundeswehr University in Munich at the Usable Security and Privacy group of Prof. Dr. Alt in the research institute Cyber Defence und Smart Data (CODE). He is interested in exploring, understanding and improving user interfaces of modern computing devices. His research often involves design, rapid prototyping, and study of new, creative, and forward-looking ways of interaction, in the spaces of:

  • Multi-touch and 3D gesture based UIs

  • Eye-tracking and gaze based interaction techniques

  • Mobile tablet and smartphone user interfaces

  • Virtual & Augmented reality, 3D UI

  • Prediction and modelling of human performance

Short Bio

Before he graduated as PhD at Lancaster University in England under the supervision of Prof. Hans Gellersen and got his master and bachelor degree in Applied Computer Science  at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. His research focuses on expanding the frontiers of human-computer interaction for security, UI design, and eye tracking. His research focuses on the eyes, how integrating visual attention can provide novel interaction concepts for mobile touchscreen devices, large screen systems, and virtual reality. During his studies, Ken has published 20 papers, interned at Google and Microsoft Research, and received a UIST Best Paper Honorable Mention award. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, classic real time strategy games, and doing & watching sports.
