Sprachtandem

A language tandem is a useful way to supplement a language course or support self-study, whether you’re just starting to learn a language or have been studying it for a few years and are looking for an opportunity to practise actively.

In a language tandem, two language partners who speak different native languages usually team up to help each other learn the other’s native language. The language partner can explain vocabulary and the usage of specific words, help with grammar questions and, above all, this allows for active speaking and listening practice.

If you’re looking for a language exchange partner on the UniBw campus, you can use our  language exchange noticeboard in Building 36, next to the main office. You can find the digital version of the noticeboard here: Sprachtandem

We can also recommend the Seagull platform run by the University of Greifswald. Here you can search for language exchange partners to meet online or, if you live nearby, in person.

The platform also provides learning materials in a wide range of languages, from beginner to intermediate level, which can be used to prepare for the next tandem conversation, thus providing a systematic foundation for collaborative learning.
