Jeff Montrose, a native of Carson City Nevada, holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies (2008) from the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg as well as a BA in Political Science (2001) from the University of Georgia, Athens. A former U.S. Army officer, Jeff served as an infantry platoon leader in Samarra, Iraq in 2004-05. He has been a doctoral candidate at the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich since 2009 and lecturers Business English at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.


Dissertation title

Military Intervention as a Means of Foreign Policy: The Principle of Strategic Harmony and the Limitation of Military Force in Modern Conflicts. Jeff’s research examines and compares the strategic goals and foreign policy decisions made by the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States of America concerning military interventions in Somalia and Iraq. His dissertation proposes and tests new hypotheses of strategic theory and seeks to develop a conceptual framework for understanding the use of military force in modern conflicts.
