23.07.2026 - Threat Modelling Workshop – Let’s Inspect 2.0

18 Mai 2026

Whether it’s Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri—smart speakers have long been part of our daily lives. They respond to voice commands, control our homes, and answer almost any question. But what actually happens to the data? What vulnerabilities exist? And how trustworthy are these systems, really?

We’ll be addressing exactly these questions on July 23, 2026, in an interactive workshop! Using smart speakers like Alexa as an example, we’ll work together to analyze how security risks can be systematically identified - without any technical attacks or special tools. Instead, we’ll use a structured method that’s well-established in cybersecurity research and practice: threat modeling.

In doing so, we will examine, among other things:

  • What data does a smart speaker collect and process?
    Where are potential vulnerabilities?
What might attackers be interested in?
What impact can security incidents have on privacy, businesses, and society?
How can appropriate protective measures be identified?

No in-depth technical background is required. With a range of perspectives - from technical risk analysis to business impact analysis - you’ll be surprised at how quickly critical vulnerabilities can be identified. So the doors are open to anyone who wants to understand how connected systems can be made more secure.
