Smart Software: The Key to the Future of Mobility

At the DigiTalk event hosted by the Digitale Stadt München e. V. association at the Collaboration Campus in Holzkirchen, the focus was entirely on the future of mobility. Under the theme “Intelligent Software as the Key to the Future of Mobility,” experts and interested parties came together to discuss the latest developments, challenges, and prospects in this field.

As vehicles, machines, and factories become increasingly connected, IT security is also gaining in importance. AI increases the complexity for both attackers and defenders. Companies must continuously protect themselves against cyberattacks and make their systems resilient to attacks. Experts from Bosch Engineering and ITK Engineering discussed this topic together with PD Dr. Corinna Schmitt from the Research Institute CODE & NCC-DE  and Prof. Dr. Reiner Hüttl from the Technical University of Rosenheim. Among other things, they discussed the role of intelligent software and examined specific examples.

A key takeaway from the event: Intelligent software is becoming increasingly important and is emerging as a key differentiator, particularly in terms of efficiency, performance, and security. One example of the use of intelligent software is the automated driving of trucks at logistics hubs. Sensors on the vehicle and at the loading gates, as well as the 5G mobile communications standard, are essential components for optimally implementing collaboration between humans and automated vehicles. A vehicle’s steering system is a complex mechatronic structure whose function is increasingly shaped by software. Autonomous driving functions and x-by-wire technologies require advanced automation solutions based on simulation and artificial intelligence. In the future, AI will make not only vehicles but also products, processes, and entire systems more efficient, sustainable, and safer. Those who have large amounts of data and analyze it using AI can gain decisive competitive advantages.

At the end of the evening’s event, the participants were able to take home many new ideas and insights. All eyes remain firmly on the upcoming developments in smart mobility.
