Yesterday morning, international guests visited the institute: At the initiative of the Dutch Consulate General, business representatives from the Kingdom of the Netherlands learned about the focus and current projects of the Reasearch Institute CODE.

The President of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, Prof. Dr. Merith Niehuss, opened the delegation’s visit and welcomed the Dutch Consul General in Munich, Paul Ymkers, as well as representatives from 12 Dutch companies in the IT security sector. This was followed by a presentation on RI CODE by PD Dr. Corinna Schmitt  and Dr. Nils Gentschen Felde (Head of the Cyber Defense Division), after which the guests — divided into two groups — were given a tour of the institute’s Open Source Analytics Lab and Cyber Range.

Afterward, there was an opportunity for open exchange and discussion, during which the participating companies briefly introduced themselves and explained their respective fields of work. In addition to technical topics, potential opportunities for collaboration were also discussed. The visitors showed particular interest in Cyber Range activities and penetration testing strategies, quantum communication, securing communication in various infrastructures, and authentication mechanisms in data networks.

Collaborations within the framework of research projects are part of CODE’s portfolio: The institute’s mission is to establish a cyber cluster — a “space of trust” — with partners from industry, government agencies, the military, associations, and the research community, in order to jointly address cybersecurity challenges from a European perspective.

We are pleased to be able to contribute to strengthening German-Dutch relations in the field of cybersecurity and look forward to exploring potential areas of collaboration that may arise from this visit.
