Prof. Dr. Stefan Pickl and Dr. Sorin Nistor from the Chair of Operations Research are developing a decision support system with a reachback function for a major disaster situation with many victims at a central supply point as part of the NATO project MASS-AI. Decision makers (medical personnel and first responders) are to be supported during the initial examination by portable ultrasound devices and easy-to-use applications on mobile devices. The system simplifies triage and provides more accurate re-trial of victims with thoracic or abdominal trauma by providing effective treatment suggestions and assisting in the coordinated evacuation of injured persons.
