CITS – Crisis Information Trust Shield

The CITS project focuses on developing an automated disinformation monitoring system for crisis communication in disaster and civil protection.

CITS addresses key challenges in civil protection: the rapid spread of false or misleading information during acute crisis situations, the vast amount of social media data, and the fact that the assessment of potentially harmful content has so far been largely manual. The project is developing an automated analysis pipeline and a dashboard that visualizes potentially disinformation-containing content, its reach, and its dissemination pathways. In this way, CITS supports crisis management teams and emergency responders in reviewing relevant content more quickly and assessing whether countermeasures are necessary.
