Academic career

Since 2011: Director of the Academy for Political Education Tutzing.

Since 1999: Professor of Political Science with special emphasis on domestic politics and comparative government at the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich in Neubiberg.

1996-1999: Assistant Professor at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, private lecturer at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität.

1996: Habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Venia for Political Science. Topic of habilitation thesis: Social policy and federalism. On the Dynamics of the Distribution of Tasks in the Social Federal State (1997, Leske + Budrich Publishers).

1993: Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (USA).

1990: Fulbright Programme "American Studies" at New York University (USA).

1989: Doctorate in political science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. Dissertation topic: Family policy in the Federal Republic of Germany. Measures, deficits, organisation of family-political state activity (1990, Lambertus Verlag).

1986-1996: Research assistant at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, lecturer at the Hochschule für Politik in Munich.

1980-1985: Studied political science, communication science, psychology and modern history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität.
