Paper: “Reflections on a Global Historical Sociology of Political Order: The Complex Entanglement of Micro-Practices and Macro-Structures in the Middle East and North Africa”
At the Joint International Conference of the Central and Eastern European International Studies Association and the International Studies Association that took place at the University of Rijeka (Croatia) between 18 and 21 June 2024, Dr. Jan Busse presented a paper titled “Reflections on a Global Historical Sociology of Political Order: The Complex Entanglement of Micro-Practices and Macro-Structures in the Middle East and North Africa”. The paper was part of a panel which had the objective of reconsidering the relationship between International Relations and Area Studies based on cases from the Middle East and the post-Soviet space. The panel consisted of scholars from Germany, the UK, Japan and Italy and represented an invaluable chance for in-depth academic exchanges on the mentioned topic. In addition, the conference participation was extremely helpful for getting in touch with researchers from a variety of different backgrounds within the discipline of International Relations.
Dr. Jan Busse, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Affairs. At the Institute of Political Science Jan Busse works on questions of global order with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
